Gwangju Dong-gu to Hold '2020 Miro Art Market' from the 9th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 8th that it will hold the ‘2020 Miro Painter Market’ from the 9th to the 11th as part of the ‘Gungdong Miro(美路)-Patron Station’ project to revitalize the Art Street.
‘Gungdong Miro(美路)-Patron Station,’ promoted as part of the cultural urban regeneration project, is an event that facilitates networking between patrons who provide economic support for artists to engage in creative activities and local artists.
So far, there have been three sessions including invited lectures by notable figures and self-promotion by local artists, and the art market is arranged as the final event.
The ‘2020 Miro Painter Market’ is a direct transaction art market for artists participating in the ‘Gungdong Miro(美路)-Patron Station,’ with 17 artists from Gwangju, including resident artists within the Art Street, taking part.
About 70 works will be exhibited at the art market, and anyone including patrons, citizens, and visitors can appreciate and purchase the artworks directly during the exhibition period.
Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, “We hope that the ‘2020 Miro Painter Market’ will serve as an opportunity to promote the culture of art consumption within the Art Street,” and added, “We will spare no support so that the Miro Center can establish itself as a hub for supporting local artists’ creative activities and pioneering sales channels.”
