KOSPI Opens Lower, Maintains 2150 Level... KOSDAQ Also Shows Weakness

As of 9:10 AM that day, the KOSPI was at 2156.99, down 18.55 points (0.85%) from the previous session.
The KOSPI opened at 2156.27, down 19.27 points (0.89%) from the previous trading day, and continued its downward trend.
In the stock market, individuals and foreigners net bought 100.1 billion KRW and 9.7 billion KRW respectively. In contrast, institutions net sold 106.7 billion KRW.
By sector, food and beverages (1.12%), chemicals (1.77%), pharmaceuticals (1.81%), and non-metallic minerals (1.41%) declined, while electrical and electronics (0.26%) rose.
Among the top 10 by market capitalization, only Samsung Electronics (0.36%) and SK Hynix (1.6%) showed gains. Others such as NAVER (2.67%), Samsung Biologics (2.27%), Hyundai Motor (0.87%), Hyundai Mobis (1.98%), and Celltrion (1.97%) declined.
Seosangyoung, a researcher at Kiwoom Securities, explained, "The US stock market fell as geopolitical risks surrounding Iran continue to weigh. This is expected to burden the Korean stock market." He added, "The US deployed B-52 bombers around Iran and dispatched amphibious landing units, raising concerns of military conflict, causing European and US stock markets to underperform. This is judged to be a negative factor for the Korean stock market today."
At the same time, the KOSDAQ was at 657.25, down 6.19 points (0.93%) from the previous day.
The KOSDAQ opened at 657.24, down 6.2 points (0.93%) from the previous session, maintaining a weak trend.
In the KOSDAQ market, individuals and foreigners net bought 3.7 billion KRW and 8.8 billion KRW respectively, while institutions net sold 12.7 billion KRW.
By sector, paper and wood (2.16%), food and tobacco (1.68%), and semiconductors (0.53%) declined.

Among the top market capitalization stocks in the KOSDAQ market, Pearl Abyss (0.67%) was the only one to rise. Celltrion Healthcare (2.14%), HL Biopharma (1.83%), CJ ENM (2.46%), Studio Dragon (1.95%), KMW (1.27%), and Helixmith (3.14%) declined.
