Jo Kyung-tae: "Forces Not Participating in Integration Will Become Sinners of History"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Cho Kyung-tae, Supreme Council Member of the Liberty Korea Party, stated regarding the conservative grand unification that they will embrace not only the right-wing but also the centrists, and warned that those who do not participate in the unification will become 'sinners of history.'
On the 8th, Cho appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and emphasized, "The scope of unification includes those who judge and oppose the current Moon Jae-in administration's mismanagement," stressing that all these groups must come together.
Earlier, there were reports that Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Korea Party, was about to announce acceptance of the three unification principles proposed by Yoo Seung-min of the New Conservative Party, but it was ultimately canceled. Regarding interpretations that there are internal voices of opposition to unification from pro-Park factions and others, Cho responded, "The meaning of unification is to accept and embrace all claims," adding, "It is not right to discriminate between cold rice and hot rice."
Cho said, "As you can see from the last local and presidential elections, the conservatives were divided and ultimately suffered certain defeat. To repeat such a mistake is like a moth dousing itself in oil and flying into the fire," and added, "If there are factions that do not participate in this unification, regardless of the reasons, those factions will become sinners of history."
He continued, "We, who are more reformist than reform conservatives, are not making unreasonable demands by proposing to build a new house," and added, "We need to broaden the scope to go beyond reform conservatives and include centrist reformists as well," emphasizing the need for broad unification.
Regarding the subjects of unification, he explained, "Not only the Yoo Seung-min faction but also the Ahn Cheol-soo faction, and even beyond that, I believe there are anti-Moon forces within the Democratic Party," adding, "those who worry about the country and security, and who are concerned about the future of our nation, must unite tightly in this general election."
Cho pointed out that the three principles should be accepted and a Unification Promotion Committee (Tongchuwi) should be formed as soon as possible. He said, "The composition of the Tongchuwi should be equal, and all vested interests must be relinquished. All vested interests must be relinquished," adding, "You relinquish yours, I will not relinquish mine?such selfish and political calculations cannot meet the expectations of the people."

Regarding the issue of accepting Yoo's three principles, he said that the claim that "the pro-Park faction strongly protested" is somewhat exaggerated but criticized, "It is a stance that goes against and conflicts with the earnest desire of the majority of the people who hope for regime change and want to judge the Moon Jae-in administration."
