Selected as Seoul and Gangwon Representatives Among 8 Nationwide ZeroPay Excellent Markets... Eunpyeong-gu's First Win-Win Agreement to Prevent Tenant Displacement
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) held a win-win agreement ceremony and a Zero Pay excellent market plaque ceremony at Yeonseo Market on the 7th to prevent the phenomenon of displacement.
This win-win agreement, the first of its kind in Eunpyeong-gu, involved 43 landlords and 43 tenants of Yeonseo Market. It includes limiting rent increases to an average of 1.2% over the next five years and cooperation between landlords and tenants to create a pleasant business and street environment, aiming for the continuous growth and revitalization of the commercial district.
Eunpyeong-gu stated that it will accelerate its full-scale policy to prevent displacement starting with this win-win agreement.
On the same day, a plaque ceremony was also held to commemorate Yeonseo Market’s selection as an excellent Zero Pay market in collaboration with the Small Enterprise and Market Service.
Yeonseo Market had already achieved a Zero Pay membership rate of over 90% last year and was recognized for its contribution to the activation of simple payment methods such as Zero Pay and Onnuri Mobile, being selected as a representative excellent Zero Pay market in the Seoul and Gangwon regions.
Additionally, it received a total of 15 million KRW in support from the Small Enterprise and Market Service to promote various events and publicity activities for the activation of Zero Pay and Onnuri Mobile.
After the agreement ceremony, merchants delivered market gift certificates worth about 1 million KRW, raised through coffee-sharing volunteer activities, to the Eunpyeong-gu Office. These gift certificates will be distributed to vulnerable households in four neighborhoods near Yeonseo Market.
