Moon Jeon-il Appointed as Member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea, President of the Robot Industry Promotion Institute
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Moon Jeon-il, President of the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, has been appointed as a member of the Korean Academy of Engineering.
The Korean Academy of Engineering announced on the 7th that Moon was appointed as a new member in the field of mechanical engineering for the year 2020.
The Academy is an academic research institution established to discover and honor outstanding engineering professionals who have made significant contributions to the development of engineering technology in academia, industry, and national institutions.
Members of this institution are selected through an evaluation of achievements across various fields including academic accomplishments, world-first technology developments, patents, human resource development, and contributions to industrial advancement, followed by a written vote by all full members.
Currently, there are a total of 65 general members in the mechanical engineering field, of which 29 are from the industry sector.
President Moon earned his degrees from Seoul National University and KAIST, and received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Syracuse University Graduate School.
He has served as Director of the Central Research Institute at LS Industrial Systems, Professor in the Department of Robotics Engineering at Hoseo University, Vice President for Research and Director of the Collaborative Robot Convergence Research Center at Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST). Since 2018, he has been serving as President of the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement.
Among his awards, he received the Ministerial Commendation at the Korea Robot Awards in 2014.
