Active Police Officer Caught Installing Hidden Camera in Women's Restroom in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] An active police officer was caught filming a hidden camera in a women's restroom in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam.
The Tongyeong Police Station announced on the 7th that they have booked and are investigating Officer A (26), affiliated with the police station, without detention on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (filming using a camera, etc.).
Officer A is suspected of secretly filming a woman using the restroom with a mobile phone in a women's restroom of a commercial building in downtown Tongyeong around 10 p.m. on December 20 last year.
When the victim woman sensed something suspicious and shouted, Officer A fled but was caught the next day by police tracking through closed-circuit television (CCTV).
Officer A was not on duty at the time of the incident. Officer A was suspended from duty on the 23rd of the same month.
The police conducted a forensic investigation on Officer A’s mobile phone and confirmed that there were no additional crimes.
