[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 7th that it will conduct joint inspections from the 8th to the 14th targeting manufacturers and sellers of holiday seasonal food products and facilities frequently used during the Lunar New Year period so that residents can purchase food with confidence.
The province has organized six joint inspection teams consisting of 24 members from the Gwangju Food and Drug Administration, city and county offices, and consumer food hygiene inspectors. They plan to focus on inspecting the hygiene management status of a total of 170 locations, including manufacturers of ceremonial and gift foods, sellers of Lunar New Year seasonal food products, and restaurants in highway rest areas frequently used during the Lunar New Year travel season.
The main inspection items include ▲ unregistered (unreported) manufacturing and sales ▲ sales of products past their expiration date ▲ handling food in an unhygienic manner ▲ compliance with business operators' obligations, among others.
In particular, they plan to collect and test rice cakes, ceremonial foods, croaker fish, pollack, and other items that are widely consumed during the Lunar New Year for food poisoning bacteria to verify safety.
