Gwangju Dong-gu "Pay Your Car Tax Annually and Get a 10% Discount"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 7th that if the automobile tax, which is paid every June and December, is prepaid by the 31st, a 10% discount on the annual amount can be received.
Taxpayers who wish to prepay the automobile tax should apply by phone or visit the Taxation Division 2 of the district office or through Wetax by the 31st. Taxpayers who prepaid the automobile tax last year will receive the prepayment bill this month and can pay without a separate application.
If the vehicle is transferred or deregistered after paying with a discount in January, a prorated refund will be made, and if the taxpayer wishes to transfer the prepayment, submitting a prepayment transfer consent form will grant the transferee the discount benefit.
Dong-gu plans to send out the automobile tax prepayment (advance payment) notice and payment bill simultaneously around the 10th.
Payment methods include credit card payment via ARS and ATM (Automated Teller Machine), virtual account transfer payment, payment at financial institutions, Wetax, and Internet Giro, and payment is possible even without a bill.
A Dong-gu official said, “If residents pay the automobile tax in January, they can receive a 10% discount on the assessed amount, and the district can secure tax revenue early,” adding, “We hope many residents pay their automobile tax in January to enjoy the benefits.”
Meanwhile, last January, Dong-gu’s active promotion of prepayment allowed about 23,700 residents to enjoy tax savings of 541 million won.
