[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 7th that it will carry out a farming settlement support project that links support for selecting young startup farmers, startup funds, technical and management consulting, and farmland leasing to help young and talented youths enter the agricultural field.
Applications for the ‘2020 Young Startup Farmers Selection and Farming Settlement Support Project’ will be accepted until the 22nd, targeting young startup farmers aged 18 to under 40 residing in the district who have been independently managing their farms for three years or less and have completed or been exempted from military service.
Those previously selected as successor farmers must also apply in the same way to receive farming settlement support funds.
However, those who have registered a business and are managing a business, those employed as full-time staff at public institutions or companies receiving monthly wages or equivalent salaries, high school and university students or those on leave, and those raising dogs other than Jindo dogs are excluded from the support target.
Youth farmers (including prospective ones) who meet the application qualifications and requirements can apply directly by accessing the Agricultural Business Information System.
If selected as a young startup farmer, a farming settlement support fund of up to 1 million KRW per month will be provided for up to three years to improve the unstable income conditions in the early stages of farming.
