"Homage to Paris"... French Diptyque Launches New Perfume
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Diptyque, a French niche perfume brand imported and sold by Shinsegae International, is launching its first new fragrance of the year, "Eau Capitale Eau de Parfum," which pays homage to Paris, France, the brand's origin.
For the first time in over 60 years since its launch, Diptyque is presenting a perfume that tells the story of Paris. To express the elegant yet sophisticated charm of Paris, a city rich in diverse culture and arts, they chose a mysterious combination of chypre family scents with various nuances.
The traditional chypre scent used in the perfume industry is based on oak moss, which evokes the scent of damp moss on wood. Chypre is known for its complex yet elegant fragrance, allowing one to experience floral, fruity, and woody spicy notes all at once.
Eau Capitale Eau de Parfum is Diptyque’s first chypre fragrance, offering a scent reinterpreted in a completely different way from conventional chypre perfumes.
Upon application, the perfume envelops the wearer in a subtle yet sensual rose scent. For this special rose fragrance, Diptyque combined three different extracts: rose essence, rose absolute, and rose concentrate.
Instead of oak moss, a rich patchouli heart blends harmoniously with fresh bergamot. Additionally, the sharp note of pink pepper adds a spontaneous scent unique to Diptyque, creating a lively and sophisticated aroma.
Along with the perfect scent combination representing Paris, Diptyque also infused the packaging with the city’s sensibility. French designer Pierre-Marie created the product package illustration inspired by the Art Nouveau style of the Belle ?poque era, a period of artistic revival in Paris.
The design features peacocks, symbolic of Art Nouveau, and decorations of rose, bergamot, and patchouli, which compose the fragrance. The Eiffel Tower, a symbol of Paris, is also depicted to add a modern touch.
In addition to the Eau de Parfum, Eau Capitale will be released in a limited edition solid perfume form, convenient for carrying anytime and anywhere. Following this, limited edition candles and scented ovals (solid diffusers) will be sequentially introduced for the Valentine’s season.
