Geumcheon-gu Confirms Budget Plan of 840 Million KRW for 41 Resident Participation Budget Projects

...Seoul Citizen Participation Budget secures 1.2 billion KRW for Community Innovation and Dong-level Plans
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) has finalized 41 projects with a total budget of 840 million KRW as part of the 2020 Resident Participatory Budget projects.
By sector, 250 million KRW was allocated to the economy, transportation, and environment fields for projects such as the "Village Gardener Job Project" and "Public Wi-Fi Installation." In the culture, tourism, and safety fields, 260 million KRW was allocated for projects including the "Geumcheon Gugak Contest Celebrating King Jeongjo," "Installation of Sunshades at Crosswalks," and "CPR Training." In the welfare sector, 160 million KRW was allocated for projects such as "Support for Voluntary Volunteer Communities," "Installation of No-Smoking Signs Around School Crosswalks," and "Harmony Volunteer Group for Koreans and Foreigners."
Especially in the education and youth sector, after separate deliberations by the Youth Council, 170 million KRW was confirmed for projects including the "Out-of-School Youth Employment Project," "The Future I Create," and "Public Small Libraries Embracing the Village."
The district selected projects through on-site and written evaluations with resident participatory budget committee members, proposers, and related departments, followed by mobile voting by residents and a general meeting. The budget was finalized after deliberation by the district council on December 17.
During the project selection process, workshops and budget schools were also held to strengthen the capabilities of committee members and activate resident participation for successful project implementation.
The district additionally secured a budget of 1.2 billion KRW, including 1 billion KRW for 19 projects under the Seoul City 2020 Citizen Participatory Budget's Regional Community Innovation Plan (district-level plan) and 200 million KRW for 32 projects under the neighborhood-level plan.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "I would like to express my gratitude to all resident participatory budget committee members who worked hard to activate participatory budgeting this year. We will do our best to ensure that the valuable resident participatory budget projects reflected in the 2020 budget are executed well and that various proposed projects from residents are actively reflected in the 2021 budget plan."
