Mokpo City Announces 2020 Organizational Restructuring and Regular Personnel Appointments

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Ki-dong] Mokpo City announced on the 6th that it has carried out the regular personnel appointments for the first half of 2020 involving a total of 324 people, including 67 promotions due to meritorious service and retirement, 12 promotion approvals, 21 new appointments, and 224 transfers, along with an organizational restructuring to efficiently promote the core projects of the 7th elected administration and systematically respond to rapidly changing administrative demands.
This regular personnel appointment reflects the organizational restructuring in the second half of 2019 under the 7th elected administration, reorganized around the keywords ‘function-centered’ and ‘strengthening collaboration’ into five bureaus (Planning and Management Bureau, Autonomous Administration and Welfare Bureau, Tourism, Culture and Sports Bureau, Economic Industry Bureau, Safety, City and Construction Bureau). It also includes the Taste City Team for the systematic promotion of the ‘Taste City Branding Project,’ one of the key projects to realize 10 million tourists; the SNS Promotion Team for effective delivery of city news and policies and realization of empathetic and communicative administration with citizens; the Policy Development Team for proactive response to various national public contests; and the Library Operations Team for comprehensive management and operation of libraries.
The city focused on swiftly advancing key administrative policies by selecting and placing tailored talents to efficiently operate the reorganized structure and solidly promote the main pending projects of the 7th elected administration in this personnel appointment.
Additionally, the timing of performance evaluations will be changed from the previous late June and late December to late May and late November, respectively, so that the results of performance evaluations can be reflected in regular personnel appointments. This aims to build a work- and performance-centered organization to strengthen organizational competitiveness. Furthermore, the city plans to put more effort into reinforcing specialized personnel for key policy promotion by selecting and placing fixed-term public officials in related fields to establish a practical foundation for fostering future strategic industries such as the fisheries food industry and renewable energy industry, as well as for developing cultural and artistic content and comprehensively planning and promoting cultural and artistic events.
