Ruling Party Nominates 5-Term Lawmaker Won Hye-young as Nomination Management Committee Chair
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The Democratic Party of Korea has nominated Rep. Won Hye-young (five-term), who declared she will not run in the general election, as the chairperson of the nomination management committee.
A key official of the Democratic Party stated on the 5th, "At the Supreme Council meeting scheduled for tomorrow (the 6th), we plan to approve the agenda to form the nomination management committee (Nomination Committee) with Rep. Won as the chairperson."
The current Democratic Party regulations require the Nomination Committee to be formed at least 100 days before the election. Therefore, the deadline for establishing the Nomination Committee is the 6th.
As a five-term senior lawmaker with deep understanding of party affairs and strong trust within the party, the leadership judged that Rep. Won is well-suited to manage the nomination screening process.
