ASF Virus Detected in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi... Total 59th Case
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The National Institute of Environmental Research under the Ministry of Environment announced on the 5th that the African Swine Fever (ASF) virus was detected in a wild boar carcass found in Jung-myeon, Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province.
With this, the confirmed ASF cases in wild boars have increased to 59 nationwide and 21 in Yeoncheon.
The carcass was discovered and reported by a farmer on the 3rd within the Civilian Control Line (CCL). Yeoncheon-gun disinfected the site according to the ASF standard action guidelines and buried the carcass, and the Institute of Environmental Research confirmed ASF in the carcass on the same day and notified relevant agencies of the results.

Jung Won-hwa, head of the Biosafety Research Team at the Institute of Environmental Research, stated, "This carcass was found inside the second fence installed in the infection risk area within the CCL," adding, "We will conduct a search to check if there are additional carcasses in the area."
