Elementary school soccer hopefuls gathered from across the country will assess the skills they have honed in Gangjin.
In addition to soccer, various other sports teams are visiting Gangjin for training camps. For cycling, 47 teams will train from January to March, and for badminton, 20 teams will conduct training from the 5th to the 14th at the Gangjin Second Indoor Gymnasium and the comprehensive sports complex.
Baseball training camps are being held at three venues including the Baseball Park, with 11 teams participating from the 2nd of this month until the 6th of next month. From the 28th of this month to the 16th of next month, nine teams including national weightlifting reserve teams, university, and corporate teams are scheduled to visit Gangjin.
Gangjin County is hosting training camps for 272 teams across nine sports this year, with a total of 48,000 participants, aiming for an economic ripple effect of 3.8 billion KRW.
This represents an increase from last year’s 207 teams, 35,000 participants across nine sports, with an additional 13,000 participants and a 1 billion KRW increase in economic impact.
National-level competitions will also be held. The 2020 Table Tennis Youth Reserve Team Selection Tournament will take place from the 19th to the 23rd at Gangjin First Indoor Gymnasium and Second Indoor Gymnasium.
Among the reserve team players selected at this tournament, players will be chosen to represent various international competitions such as the Asian Junior and Cadet Championships, drawing significant attention.
Gangjin County is considered an optimal training destination preferred by athletes due to its mild climate conditions and diverse sports infrastructure, including natural grass fields and multipurpose indoor gymnasiums.
In particular, to allow visiting teams to focus solely on their competitions, Gangjin provides various convenience facilities such as a weight training center, and has installed lighting facilities at the comprehensive sports complex and Cheongja soccer-exclusive stadium to facilitate smooth night competitions and training camps, earning high praise from the teams using the facilities.
