Nationwide Gasoline Prices Rise for 7 Consecutive Weeks... 1,558.7 Won per Liter
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Gasoline prices at gas stations nationwide have risen for seven consecutive weeks.
According to the Korea National Oil Corporation's oil price information service Opinet on the 4th, the average gasoline selling price at gas stations nationwide in the first week of January recorded 1,558.7 KRW per liter (ℓ), up 4.6 KRW from the previous week. The average diesel selling price nationwide was 1,391.7 KRW per liter, up 3.1 KRW from the previous week.
Seoul, the region with the highest gasoline prices nationwide, saw an increase of 3.9 KRW per liter from the previous week, reaching 1,638.5 KRW per liter. This is 79.8 KRW higher per liter compared to the national average price.
The lowest gasoline price region, Daegu, recorded a gasoline price of 1,532.4 KRW per liter, up 3.1 KRW from the previous week, which is 106.1 KRW cheaper per liter compared to Seoul.
The Dubai crude oil price, which serves as the benchmark for imported crude oil, was $66.9 per barrel, down $0.2 per barrel from $67.1 per barrel last week.

The Korea National Oil Corporation explained, "Although there were factors pushing prices up such as a decrease in U.S. crude oil inventories and tensions in the Middle East, prices slightly declined due to increased production from the U.S. and Russia."
