Fire at Scrap Yard in Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam... No Casualties Reported
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] Around 3:35 PM on the 3rd, a fire broke out at a scrapyard in Daehap-myeon, Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, and the large flames were brought under control after about 1 hour and 40 minutes.
The fire completely burned down one factory building within the scrapyard and about 50 scrapped vehicles were completely destroyed. There were no casualties.
Fire authorities, who responded after a report from a factory official, extinguished the large flames around 5:19 PM that day. They are currently handling the remaining embers.
The police and fire authorities estimate that sparks from a welding machine during automobile dismantling work caused the fire in the scrapped vehicles inside the factory.
