Lee Hyung-seok, Democratic Party Supreme Council Member, Appointed as Special Chairman for the '5·18 40th Anniversary'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Hyung-seok, a Supreme Council Member of the Democratic Party of Korea, has been appointed as the chairman of the party’s ‘5·18 Gwangju Democratization Movement 40th Anniversary Special Committee.’
According to the Democratic Party’s Gwangju Metropolitan City branch on the 3rd, the party established a special committee within the party to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 5·18 Gwangju Democratization Movement and the 60th anniversary of the April 19 Revolution this year.
Lee Hyung-seok was appointed as the chairman of the 5·18 special committee, and Seol Hoon, a Supreme Council Member, was appointed as the chairman of the April 19 special committee.
Lee, the Supreme Council Member, stated, “Even as we mark the 40th anniversary of the 5·18 Gwangju Democratization Movement, we have yet to clearly reveal any of the hidden truths, including the identity of the initial order issuer of the shooting,” and criticized, “The perpetrators, instead of atoning, are dispersing and hiding large sums of wealth obtained through unjust means, and are flaunting their indulgence at golf courses and upscale restaurants.”
