Jo O-seop Preliminary Candidate Holds 'New Year's Meeting with Residents'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jo Oseop, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate for the National Assembly representing Buk-gu Gap, Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 3rd that he held a 'New Year's Meeting with Buk-gu Residents' at his election office on the 2nd.
About 300 people attended the event, including Gwangju city council members, Buk-gu council members, the Damyang Hometown Association, people with disabilities, women, youth, religious groups, and key supporters from 17 neighborhoods in the Buk-gu Gap area.
Song Palhyeong, head of the Senior University at the Buk-gu branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association, said, "I heard that the young man, who has always been polite and respectful to elders, is preparing to take a bigger leap, so I came here at once," adding, "We must give a chance for the talent discovered by Gwangju and nurtured by Buk-gu to now work for the Republic of Korea."
Han Sangdeuk, director of the Buk-gu Disabled Welfare Association, said, "Having observed Jo Oseop, the preliminary candidate, for a long time as he worked through civic groups, labor movements, and as a Gwangju city council member, he has always been someone who looks first to the lowly and seeks them out," and added, "With the abolition of the disability grading system last year, a new support system for people with disabilities is needed, and I expect Candidate Jo to take great interest and engage in legislative activities."

Candidate Jo stated, "The year 2020 is a very important year marking the start of the prosecution reform, which is the people's mandate, and it is an election year that will determine whether President Moon Jae-in's reform tasks can be accomplished," and pledged, "The Democratic Party of Korea must win the general election to complete the prosecution reform that has just begun, solve the pressing livelihood issues, and open the path to peaceful reunification."
