Gwanak-gu Holds '2020 New Year's Meeting' Focused on Innovation, Inclusion, and Cooperation
Announcing a New Start in the Year of the Rat: Revealing the 2020 Lunar New Year Operational Direction and Vision... Making a Year Where Promises with Residents Bear Fruit One by One
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) will hold the ‘2020 New Year Meeting’ to start the vigorous new year with residents at 3 p.m. on the 9th at the Gwanak Cultural Foundation (Gwanak Culture Center and Library) performance hall.
The event will be an opportunity to share the administrative direction and blueprint of ‘Together, the Best Gwanak-gu’ in 2020, the third year of the 7th elected term. About 2,500 people, including Mayor Park Junhee of Gwanak-gu, members of the National Assembly, city and district councilors, heads of related organizations, and residents, are expected to attend and brighten the occasion.
The event will open with a sand art performance expressing letters using sand, cheering for the new start of the Year of the White Rat 2020 along with New Year greetings.
Mayor Park Junhee will take the stage to deliver a New Year’s address, introducing the major achievements of 2019 focused on improving residents’ quality of life and the 2020 administrative plans to further develop Gwanak-gu.
In 2019, Gwanak-gu achieved remarkable results that residents can feel positive changes in various aspects of life, including regional economic revitalization, culture, welfare, and safety, such as ▲ operation of Gwanakcheong ▲ fostering Nakseong Venture Valley ▲ opening of Gwanak Startup Space ▲ activation of startup investment ▲ selection for University Campus Town contest ▲ selection for Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ Commercial District Renaissance project ▲ attracting the construction of a branch of Seoul Metropolitan Library ▲ extension of the Western Line light rail to Seoul National University main gate ▲ conversion of the Nangok Line light rail to a financial project ▲ creation of Together Urban Agriculture Park ▲ designation as a women-friendly city by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
In 2020, Gwanak-gu plans to focus on producing significant achievements centered on major priority projects such as ▲ activation of Nakseong Venture Startup Center ▲ activation of Seoul Startup Cafe ▲ creation of representative commercial districts by living area ▲ construction of Gwanak Youth Center ▲ branding of Gang Gamchan City ▲ expansion of Gwanak-style Mother Center ‘I-rang’ ▲ creation of a smart safety city ▲ early commencement of Nangok Line and Western Line light rails ▲ specialized projects for Dorimcheon Stream ▲ construction of a complex urban agriculture space in Gwanak.
Additionally, congratulatory performances by ‘Obunshimpyo Band,’ composed of young artists, and ‘New Kids,’ who won a special prize at the Gang Gamchan Song Festival, are prepared, along with videos containing New Year greetings and wishes from various residents across all walks of life and a splendid media performance expressing the six major strategies of the 7th elected term.
