Hanwha Group Defense Affiliates Hold New Year's Ceremony at National Cemetery for 10th Consecutive Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hanwha Group's defense affiliates, Hanwha Corporation, Hanwha Defense, and Hanwha Systems, visited the National Seoul National Cemetery on the 2nd to hold a patriotic New Year's ceremony, marking the first official schedule of the Year of the Metal Rat (Gyeongja Year).
At the joint patriotic New Year's ceremony of Hanwha Group's defense affiliates, approximately 140 executives and employees attended, including Hanwha Corporation CEO Ok Kyung-seok, Hanwha Defense CEO Lee Sung-soo, and Hanwha Systems CEO Kim Yeon-cheol.
The attendees paid respects and reflected on the sacrifices and patriotic spirit of the fallen heroes, renewing their commitment to contributing to the enhancement of national defense capabilities in 2020. Since Hanwha Corporation signed a sisterhood agreement with the National Seoul National Cemetery in 2011, it has been visiting the cemetery annually for 10 years to start the new year's first work.
Ok Kyung-seok, CEO of Hanwha Corporation, said, "It is an honor to start the new year of the Gyeongja Year at the National Cemetery, where the spirit of the patriotic martyrs is enshrined," adding, "Hanwha Group's defense affiliates will continue to strive to improve national defense capabilities in 2020 based on the original intention of serving the country through business."

Each business site of Hanwha Group's defense affiliates will also hold their own patriotic New Year's ceremonies across the country. Hanwha Corporation's Daejeon plant and comprehensive research institute will hold a patriotic ceremony at the National Daejeon National Cemetery on the 6th, and Hanwha Corporation's Gumi plant will hold one at the National Yeongcheon Memorial Cemetery on the 3rd, reaffirming their commitment to faithfully fulfilling their roles and responsibilities as defense industry companies.
