LG OLED TV Wins 'Technical Excellence Award' from Hollywood Professional Association in the US
Excellent Color Reproduction Praised
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] LG Electronics announced on the 2nd that its 'LG OLED TV' recently received the 'Technology Excellence Award' from the Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) in the United States. This is the first time an LG OLED TV has received this award.
LG Electronics stated that this award is significant as its OLED TV was recognized for its outstanding performance by top experts in Hollywood's video and content fields.
The HPA is an organization established in 2002, composed of experts from various fields such as content production, distribution, and archiving, supporting related technologies and industries. Since 2005, the association has selected and awarded products and content that demonstrate artistic excellence and innovation.
The evaluation panel highly praised the LG OLED TV for achieving a color reproduction rate exceeding the level required by professionals. In fact, the LG OLED TV is recognized for its accurate color expression and is used in Hollywood as a reference TV for standard dynamic range (SDR) and high dynamic range (HDR) video.
In particular, the panel commended LG Electronics for enabling easy adjustment of the TV screen's color tone through specialized programs. Since 2017, the company has jointly developed related technologies with the video software specialist 'Portrait Displays' and has applied them to products since last year.
LG Electronics explained that this technology is widely used not only in Hollywood but also by global content companies such as Universal, Dolby, Netflix, and Disney, recognizing its professionalism and convenience.
The company emphasized the characteristics of OLED, where each pixel emits light independently without the need for a backlight, allowing for delicate expression of image quality through precise control.
