"The Thieves" to Serve as Opening, Closing Pic at Korean Film Fests in Europe

After attracting a record audience here this summer, Korean blockbuster “The Thieves” is now making its way to Europe by being introduced to two Korean film festivals next month.

The show’s local distributor Showbox said in a press release Sunday that the second highest grossing homegrown film will open the seventh London Korean Film Festival on November 1. Officials with the distributor added the Lee Jung-jae and Kim Hye-soo starrer is slated to close this year's Paris Korean Film Festival on November 6.

The movie's director Choi Dong-hoon and one of the male leads Kim Yun-seok will introduce their action flick at the LKFF themselves by taking part in the ceremony.

Additionally, director Choi will fly over to Paris to meet French moviegoers in the flesh at the closing ceremony of the seventh edition of the Paris Korean film fest alongside another male lead Lee Jung-jae.Drawing in a whopping number of over 13 million people here, “The Thieves” is now targeting the international film scene by hitting 12 cities abroad including Los Angeles and New York in the United States and Canada, on October 12, according to the show's North American distributor Well Go USA.
