4 Korean movies to head on over to Toronto International Film Festival

A total of four Korean movies will be making their way to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) next month.

TIFF's official website showed Monday that Korean features "Dangerous Liaisons," "Juvenile Offender," "The Thieves" and "A Werewolf Boy" will meet the audience at the festivities in Toronto, Canada from September 6 to 16. Director Hur Jin-ho's "Dangerous Liaisons," starring actor Jang Dong-gun and Chinese actresses Ziyi Zhang and Cecilia Cheung, will be screened under the Gala Presentations segment.

Adapted from the French classic novel of the same name, famed director Hur Jin-ho's Chinese film "Dangerous Liaisons" is set in Shanghai, China in the 1930s and focuses on a love triangle between one man and two women.

The pic received favorable reviews from movie critics after it was screened at the 65th Festival De Cannes in Cannes, France last month, and Jang and Hur were there at the fest to promote the movie. Meanwhile, "Juvenile Offender," "The Thieves" and "A Werewolf Boy" will be introduced at TIFF under the Contemporary World Cinema program, where new pictures by world-renowned directors are shown.

Helmed by Kang Lee Kwan, "Juvenile Offender" tells the story of a female character named Hyo-seung (played by songstress Lee Jung-hyun), suffering from multiple personality disorder, who meets her son that she gave up for adoption 15 years ago.

"The Thieves," helmed by famed director Choi Dong-hoon, tells the story of a group of ten thieves from different backgrounds, who have teamed up to steal a hidden diamond inside a casino in Macao.

It stars an all-star cast of Jun Ji-hyun, Kim Yoon-seok, Kim Hye-soo, Lee Jung-jae and Kim Soo-hyun recently reached 11 million moviegoers since its local open on July 25.

"A Werewolf Boy," directed by auteur Kang Yi-kwan, tells the love story between a teenage girl (played by Park Bo-young) and of a teenage boy that is half werewolf and half human (played by actor Song Joong-ki).

Meanwhile, Korean actress Bae Donna will make an appearance at TIFF to walk the red carpet and promote her first Hollywood movie "Cloud Atlas."
