Girl's Generation's TTS 'twinkles' atop Gaon charts

Girl's Generation's trio unit debuted atop Gaon's singles and album charts last week.

Girl's Generation's TTS, also known as 'Taetiseo' in Korea, the trio was the highest charting act with the title track, "TWINKLE," from the album of the same name on Gaon's single chart between April 29 and May 5.Composed of Tiffany, Taeyeon and Seohyun, the group was announced last month to rev up for their activities as a unit during the Girl's Generation's current hiatus.

The song, which gives off a slight Moulin Rouge feeling coupled with Girl's Generation's cute image, also ranked at No. 126 on last week's Billboard 200 by moving over 3,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

With shining success of TTS' title song, SISTAR's song "Alone" from the group's first mini-album moved down a rung to sit at No. 2.Park Jin-young, also known as JYP, rounded up the top three last week with "You're the One" off his latest mini-album "Spring."

The producer, C.E.O. and singer's five-track set is his first release in three years after the artist rolled out "Sad Freedom " in 2009.

His other song from the same record featuring Brown Eyed Girl's Ga-in, "Someone Else" debuted at No. 2 on the previous week's chart but it had slipped down five spots to place in No. 7.

Meanwhile, Ivy's "Torn Heart" from her ballad album "INTERVIEW" has climbed up 12 spots and bowed at No. 4, followed by IU's self-written song "Peach" from her single "Spring of Twenties" (translated title) entering the chart at No.5.

On the album chart, Girl's Generation's TTS again showed their power as one of the top K-pop acts, grabbing the top seed as soon as the album went on sale on April 30.

B.A.P's second single "POWER," which dropped on April 27, made its first appaerance on the chart by sitting at No. 2.

Block B, which has been staying out of their music activities due to the group's controversial behavior during their interview in Thailand mid-February, has sat at the chart's third place with the repackaged album of the second mini-album "Welcome to the BLOCK."

Other albums within the top five include Busker Busker's self-titled debut record and EXO-M's first mini-album "MAMA."
