Famed American R&B soul singer Eric Benet has postponed his concert in Korea originally set for April, announced the concert’s organizer Private Curve on Thursday.

A notification on the official website of Private Curve said that the soul singer sent an email to the company expressing his apology for postponing his trip to Korea which comes due to the unexpected disaster which hit Japan last month. On March 11, a massive earthquake and tsunami rippled through Japan that has left at least 21,000 people dead or missing and thousands homeless.

The more serious risk comes from the damage on the country’s nuclear power plants that has led to the leakage of vast amounts of radiation that has contaminated the eastern part of the region and its sea, raising concerns regarding the effect it will have on neighboring countries as well.

Benet promised through his email that he will re-coordinate his schedule as soon as possible to make up for the latest cancellation. The upcoming concert which would have been Benet’s third concert in Korea, intended to promote the release of his fifth album “LOST IN TIME” (2010), was originally set to ake place on April 12.

Benet debuted with album “TRUE TO MYSELF” in 1996 and became famous three years later with his second album “A DAY IN THE LIFE” that included title track “Spend My Life With You” featuring renowned R&B and soul singer Tamia.

The song claimed the No.1 on the U.S. Billboard chart for three weeks and had Benet nominated for Grammy Awards the following year.

His third album “Hurricane” (2005) too boasts numerous hits including “Hurricane,” “Last Time,” and “Cracks Of My Broken Heart” while his fourth album “LOVE & LIFE” (2008) debuted No.11 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart.

His first single “You’re The Only One” too was received well, staying atop Urban AC's radio chart for four straight weeks and wining him nominations for the Grammy Awards once again.

All the tickets purchased for Eric Benet’s concert will be refunded via various payment venues including credit card, bank account, cellphone and online reservation websites. For further inquiry call online reservation site Interpark at 1544-1555.
