Funk band Earth, Wind & Fire to give first concert in Korea


Legendary American band Earth, Wind & Fire will visit Korea next month to give their first concert in the country, according to a report on Thursday.

According to concert promoter Yellow Nine, the R&B band will performing with 13 members on stage including the group's founder and leader Maurice White and Philip Bailey. Formed in Chicago in 1969, they are known for infusing various musical genres including African, funk, jazz, soul and rock into their music style. The band has won a total of ten Grammys and four American Music Awards, while selling a total of over 90 million albums worldwide. Some of their best-known songs are "Shining Star", "September" and "After the Love Has Gone".

The have released 19 studio albums since their debut in 1971 and is the seventh best-selling artist of all-time.

The concert will be held at the COEX Atlantic Ocean Hall on December 17.
