The delegation listened to explanations on Goyang's urban policies and the status of major development projects, and then toured key policy sites in sequence, including Ilsan New Town, Janghang Wetland, and the Goyang Smart City Center, to observe firsthand examples of urban management.
On this day, discussions and Q&A sessions were held regarding the development process of Ilsan New Town, the direction of urban planning, and the status of major development projects. Participants also viewed major development areas such as the Janghang District from the rooftop of KINTEX, deepening their understanding of Goyang's urban expansion and development direction.
The delegation also conducted a walking tour of the Ilsan New Town area, directly observing the urban spatial structure in which residential complexes, green axes, and commercial facilities are organically connected. In particular, they showed great interest in the pedestrian-oriented urban environment and the case of a planned city centered on residential zones, sharing the view that the development approach, which considers the interconnection of urban functions and residential conditions, could serve as a reference for Mongolia's urban development policy formation.
They then visited the Ramsar Goyang Janghang Wetland to examine an example of eco-friendly urban policy where the city and nature coexist. The delegation noted the systematic conservation of the ecological environment in areas adjacent to the city while also being utilized as citizen-friendly spaces. They said the visit served as an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of sustainable urban policy from the perspectives of responding to the climate crisis and preserving biodiversity.
Additionally, at the Goyang Smart City Center, the delegation experienced the smart city management system that integrates citywide functions such as transportation, safety, and disaster response. They showed particular interest in the real-time urban information management system and the digital-based method of municipal administration.
Lee Jeonghwa, the Second Vice Mayor, stated, "This training was a meaningful opportunity to share examples of Goyang's urban planning, smart city policies, and eco-friendly urban policy." He added, "We will continue to proactively share exemplary policy cases through various international exchanges in the future."
