Lee stated, "Osaek Market is both the history and the economic center of Osan," adding, "To boost the competitiveness of traditional markets, we will pursue physical environment improvements along with digital transformation."
The core pledge is to establish a public anchor facility, the "Food Support Center," on the site of the Osaek Market Customer Support Center. This facility will serve as a base for market revitalization and will include a sashimi center, a shared kitchen, restaurant spaces, and a customer service center.
Lee explained, "The Food Support Center will become the key hub to attract more visitors to the market," adding, "By creating a multi-purpose space for both merchants and citizens, we will inject new vitality into Osaek Market."
He noted that this is expected to increase foot traffic in the Osaek Market commercial district and the surrounding Jungang-dong area, while also fostering a cooperative commercial ecosystem.
At the same time, Lee plans to launch a digital-based brand activation project throughout Osaek Market. He intends to establish an online ordering and delivery system to connect traditional markets with online consumer platforms.
Additionally, his strategy is to enhance differentiated brand competitiveness by strengthening storytelling-driven online content that highlights Osaek Market’s history and cultural assets.
Lee Gwong Jae said, "Traditional markets must now also possess online competitiveness," adding, "Through a digital foundation, we will improve customer accessibility and respond to evolving consumer trends."
He went on to emphasize, "We will build a cooperative market where merchants and citizens grow together, reestablishing the market as the central axis of the local economy," and added, "We will develop Osaek Market into one of the most competitive traditional markets in Gyeonggi Province."
