HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has secured an order for two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers from a North American shipping company.

View original imageHD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the intermediate holding company of HD Hyundai's shipbuilding business, announced on the 13th that it recently signed a contract with a North American shipping company to build two LNG carriers. The total order value amounts to 748.5 billion won.
The newly ordered vessels will be built by HD Hyundai Samho and are scheduled for sequential delivery by the second half of 2029.
As of this year, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has won orders for a total of 96 vessels, totaling 11.32 billion dollars. This represents 48.6% of its annual order target of 23.31 billion dollars.
By vessel type, the orders include 14 LNG carriers, 26 container ships, 20 LPG/ammonia carriers, 7 crude oil tankers, 26 product carriers, 2 pure car and truck carriers (PCTC), and 1 icebreaker, among others.
