Osan City in Gyeonggi Province has secured a special grant from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for the first half of the year, amounting to 1.4 billion won. With this funding, the city will accelerate projects aimed at strengthening disaster safety and living infrastructure.
According to the city on May 13, the special grant has been allocated for a total of four projects: ▲Reinforcement work on Seobu-ro (500 million won), ▲Repairs on Tapdong Bridge (400 million won), ▲Playground maintenance in southwestern Osan (400 million won), and ▲Functional upgrades for the Osan City-run community child center (100 million won).
Specifically, the city plans to immediately allocate the secured budget to the reinforcement work on Seobu-ro, which is being carried out as part of efforts to expand disaster safety infrastructure. This project is based on the results of a detailed safety inspection and is intended to ensure safety in the area.
In addition, Tapdong Bridge—one of the five main bridges along the Osancheon Stream and a major route for both vehicles and pedestrians—will undergo deck resurfacing and structural repairs using the special grant, thereby enhancing its safety.
The playgrounds in the southwestern region (Gweoldong 4th Children's Park and Nueup Children's Park) serve as key recreational areas in local neighborhoods but have aged rapidly, making safety improvements necessary. The city will use the secured funds to carry out renovation projects and significantly improve children's play facilities.
Through functional upgrades to the city-run community child center, the city aims to refurbish aging facilities and improve the environment so that children can enjoy a comfortable space for various activities.
An official from Osan City stated, "Projects such as the reinforcement work on Seobu-ro and bridge repairs are key issues directly related to citizen safety, while the playground maintenance and child center upgrades are important investments for future generations. We will continue to make every effort to secure government funding, including national and provincial grants, for practical, citizen-focused projects."
