The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority carried out an environmental cleanup activity at the Saenggok Industrial Complex.
On May 13, the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority announced that, in collaboration with the Gangseo-gu Volunteer Center, it had conducted the "Saenggok Industrial Complex Plogging Environmental Cleanup Activity" in the Saenggok Industrial Complex area of Gangseo-gu, Busan.
This activity was organized as part of the "Industrial Complex Relay Plogging" program, following previous events at Hwajeon Industrial Complex, Nammun District, and Mieum Industrial Complex.
More than 40 participants—including members of the Busan Resource Circulation Council, representatives from tenant companies in the industrial complex, and members of volunteer organizations—took part in environmental maintenance activities along the roadsides and green spaces of the industrial complex.
Participants collected household waste and industrial by-products while moving around the iron scrap yard area of the Saenggok Industrial Complex. A citizen-participation plogging campaign was also promoted during the event. The Saenggok Industrial Complex is a specialized resource circulation cluster focused on iron scrap-based recycling industries.
The Authority explained that, together with the Circular Resources Council within the industrial complex, it is pursuing environmental maintenance activities, improvement of recycling technology, and initiatives to enhance the image of a clean industrial complex.
Park Sungho, Commissioner of the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority, said, "We hope this will serve as an opportunity for tenant companies and the local community to participate together in creating a clean industrial environment," adding, "We will also work to spread a culture of ESG practice."
The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority plans to continue the industrial complex relay plogging activities at the Macheon Industrial Complex in June and the Jisa Industrial Complex in October.
