The Pohang City Lifelong Learning Center has launched an innovative project that combines the confident challenges of seniors with local promotion: the "Pungpung Gokgok Senior Model Club," which has now begun full-scale activities.
On May 12, the Pohang City Lifelong Learning Center held an inauguration ceremony, officially launching the club comprising 15 senior model students aged 60 and above who have completed regular courses at the center.

In particular, under the name "Pungpung Gokgok Project," the club plans to conduct various promotional activities for the next six months, linking Pohang’s tourism resources and local specialties.
Key programs include step-by-step model training such as posture correction, walking, posing, and stage manners, conducted by inviting professional instructors.
Additionally, the club plans to present the "Pungpung Gokgok Runway," an outdoor runway event set against iconic Pohang landmarks such as Space Walk and Yeongildae Beach.
There will also be photo shoots and production of short-form SNS content featuring local specialties such as Gwamegi and Mulhoe. The goal is to capture the individuality and experience of senior models while also maximizing the promotional effect for local brands.
Pohang City expects that this project will not only have social effects, such as alleviating depression and boosting the pride of the senior generation, but will also provide an opportunity to promote local businesses and tourist attractions, including Jukdo Market.
Furthermore, it is expected to establish itself as a new regional cultural model that combines the SNS sensibilities of the younger generation with the experience of seniors, leading to intergenerational communication.
Jin Ikhwan, president of the club, said, "We will make every corner of Pohang 'pungpung' with our charm," and added, "I hope many citizens will support the confident challenges and new lives of seniors."
Park Jinsuk, head of the Lifelong Education Division, stated, "Last year, the 'Shimpo Hana Acoustic Guitar Club' we supported won the Excellence Award at the Gyeongsangbuk-do Lifelong Learning Expo club competition, and it continues to be active in local performances. I hope the Pungpung Gokgok Senior Model Club will also become a leading promotional icon, traveling around Pohang and widely promoting the region."
Meanwhile, the "Pungpung Gokgok Senior Model Club" plans to participate as an official performance team at local festivals and major events in Pohang, and will continue to carry out volunteer mini fashion shows at nursing homes and welfare centers.
