Keimyung University (President: Shin Ilhee) has established a venue for innovation, aiming to read the changing landscape of local industries in the era of AI Transformation (AX, AI Transformation) and strengthen the ties between the university and local companies.
The university announced that it successfully held the 13th Keimyung Industry-Academia Cooperation Forum on the 12th at Daegu Inter-Burgo EXCO, attended by approximately 180 representatives from local companies and related organizations.

View original imageThis forum was organized to explore the direction of a major transformation for Daegu’s future industries in the rapidly changing AI environment, as well as to establish a sustainable foundation for industry-academia-research cooperation.
Key figures representing the local business community, including Shin Ilhee, President of Keimyung University, Lee Chunggon, President of the Keimyung University Family Company and Chairman of SL Corp., and Lee Jaeha, Chairman of the Keimyung University Alumni Association and Chairman of Sambo Motors Co., Ltd., attended the event, reaffirming the importance of industry-academia cooperation.
During the first session, Lee Deokwoo, Director of the Keimyung University Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation, presented on “An Innovative Industry-Academia Cooperation Platform for Daegu’s Future Industry Transformation in the AX Era,” outlining new roles for the university.
Director Lee shared a comprehensive industry-academia cooperation roadmap—ranging from fostering talent linked to key local industries, to technology commercialization, business support, and joint research—which was met with an enthusiastic response from attendees.
The following seminar featured in-depth discussions analyzing the current status of future mobility and AI technologies.
Yoo Byungyong, Vice President of Autonomous A2Z Co., Ltd., presented “Strategies for Autonomous Driving Commercialization,” diagnosing the status of industrialization. Lee Jongha, Director of AI Information Management at Keimyung University, discussed the development potential of human-centered AI technologies under the theme “Empathetic AI that Understands and Empathizes with People.”
In the second session, Kim Donghwan, CEO of Forty Two Maru Co., Ltd., delivered a special lecture titled “The Age of Agentic AI – AX Strategies Specialized for Daegu and North Gyeongsang Industries.”
CEO Kim explained the changes that “Agentic AI,” which autonomously sets and executes goals, will bring to industry, and proposed concrete implementation strategies for local companies to secure practical competitiveness through AI transformation.
President Shin Ilhee stated, “This forum is a meaningful opportunity to jointly explore the future direction of local industries in the AX era and for universities and companies to build a sustainable industry-academia cooperation ecosystem. Going forward, we will continue to contribute to the development of Daegu and North Gyeongsang industries by fostering convergence talent to lead future industries and by supporting innovation in local companies.”
Meanwhile, Keimyung University plans to further elaborate regional industry-specialized AI strategies based on the discussions held at this forum and to expand joint research and technical support with companies.
