S-Oil announced on May 13 that it will showcase an immersion cooling solution for data centers in partnership with Global Standard Technology (GST) at 'HVAC KOREA 2026 (Mechanical Equipment Comprehensive Exhibition)', which is being held at COEX in Seoul until May 15.
At this exhibition, S-Oil is providing immersion cooling fluid optimized for data center environments, while GST is implementing an integrated solution that controls the heat generated by high-performance artificial intelligence (AI) and computing servers through immersion cooling equipment. The two companies plan to present next-generation thermal management technology that can address the rapidly increasing power consumption and heat generation issues in data centers.
S-Oil's immersion cooling fluid, 'S-Oil e-Cooling Solution', is a thermal management solution applicable to high-heat environments such as energy storage systems (ESS), data centers, and electric vehicle (EV) batteries. The data center immersion cooling method involves submerging servers directly in highly insulating cooling fluid, which allows for a reduction in cooling power usage.
The company explained that since the cooling fluid comes into direct contact with key server components and rapidly disperses heat, this enables a stable temperature environment suitable for operating high-performance AI servers.
S-Oil also plans to conduct a demonstration test of immersion cooling technology for data centers in collaboration with GST and the Sungkyunkwan University Supercomputing Center. The company intends to establish an integrated cooperation system that links immersion cooling fluid, equipment, and actual operating environments to verify the applicability of this technology in high-performance computing settings.
A representative from S-Oil stated, "As AI becomes more widespread, the issues of heat generation and power efficiency in data centers are emerging as important challenges," adding, "We will contribute to improving the energy efficiency of the data center industry through immersion cooling fluid-based thermal management solutions." The representative further emphasized, "We will continue to lead the next-generation thermal management market by collaborating with a variety of partners going forward."
