LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A) is set to host the nation's first-ever defense sector 'Agentic AI Workshop Hackathon (DAH·Defense AI Cyber Security Hackathon)', taking the lead in securing core technologies for future battlefields.
On May 13, LIG D&A announced it will hold the 'DAH' competition, where participants will compete in artificial intelligence (AI)-based attack and defense technologies as well as cyber security capabilities. The event will challenge teams to solve highly complex problems that could arise in real-world defense and cyber security environments using AI technology.
What sets this event apart is that it goes beyond a simple idea contest: it is structured as a 'workshop battle,' where AI agents autonomously make decisions, execute tasks, and carry out both offensive and defensive operations. The company expects this approach will help elevate the competitiveness of domestic defense AI technology to a new level.
Applications will be accepted through the official website until June 14. Teams that advance through the preliminary round will compete in the finals on August 21 at the SKY31 Convention in Lotte World Tower, Jamsil, Seoul. The total prize pool is set at 20 million won, and winners will also receive preferential consideration in recruitment processes.
The competition will be held in a cloud infrastructure-based environment. Participants will design AI models using real data and demonstrate their problem-solving capabilities in a virtual cyber battlefield setting.
LIG D&A expects that the technical capabilities and data infrastructure gained through this event will lay the foundation for strengthening the digital competitiveness of K-Defense and implementing intelligent manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) systems in the future.
A representative from LIG D&A stated, "This DAH hackathon is an attempt to open a new battlefield for defense AI," adding, "We look forward to the active participation of talented individuals with innovative technologies that can change the future of defense and cyber security."
Meanwhile, at last year's ADEX, LIG D&A unveiled its AI-integrated command and control system based on an AI and big data platform. This year, the company established a new Technology Innovation Division, and in 2023, it was selected as the lead contractor for the 'Cyber Battlefield Management System' project, with related development currently underway.
