Naju City Launches Citizen Literature Classes at Baekho Literature Museum Covering Drama, Web Novels, and Autobiographies

Naju City in South Jeolla Province is launching a hands-on literary program that allows citizens to directly experience literature and content creation.

On the 13th, Naju City announced that it is recruiting participants for the "Sim Eunjeong Literature Class," which will be held in collaboration with writer Sim Eunjeong, who is currently serving as the resident author at the Baekho Literature Museum.

This program consists of courses focused on content that has recently attracted significant public interest, such as drama scriptwriting, web novel creation, and autobiography writing. Its distinguishing feature is that citizens will not simply appreciate literature but will actively participate as creators themselves.

The drama scriptwriting course, "Birth of a Drama Writer," will run for 13 weeks, from May 19 to August 11. Participants will analyze the structure and narrative flow of popular dramas and engage in practical training by completing a one-act play script.

The web novel creation course, "How Much Do You Know About Web Novels?" will be held from June 11 to August 13, offering education on web novel theory, practical writing techniques, and work analysis.

The autobiography writing program, "Writing Saturdays," will be held from July 4 to November 7. Participants will complete an autobiography recording their own lives through activities such as reading books, watching films, and literary healing exercises.

Each course has a maximum capacity of 20 participants, selected on a first-come, first-served basis. For the drama writer experience program targeting youth, a total of 10 teams will be recruited on a school or class basis.

This program is particularly noteworthy for integrating content industries such as drama and web novels into literary education. As demand for creative education increases alongside the growth of the web content market, local cultural institutions are shifting from traditional literature-focused operations to expanding practical creative programs.

Writer Sim Eunjeong completed a professional course in drama writing and is currently working as a scriptwriter at a drama production company. She participated as a co-writer in the Korea-Japan joint web drama "Secret Message," and has published works such as the novels "The Lantern Train That Reflects Memories," "The Price of Fate," "Blade," and "To You, Brighter Than the Sun."
