The Korea Exchange is accelerating its AI Transformation (AX) by introducing artificial intelligence (AI) technology to core areas of the capital market.
On May 13, the Korea Exchange announced that it launched an AX consultative body immediately after acquiring the AI technology startup Fair Labs in February. The company is rapidly advancing core initiatives by immediately developing demo versions that incorporate ideas from business departments, and then enhancing completeness based on practical feedback.
Key examples of AX innovation using Fair Labs' AI technology include the adoption of AI for real-time detection of material information from listed companies, digitalization of market action verification procedures, and automation of industry classification management.
Fair Labs recently proved its technological competitiveness through the successful acquisition of a high-level public project, having been chosen as the lead institution for a cultural technology (CT) research and development project worth a total of 4.1 billion won, promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and other organizations.
This project is a large-scale R&D initiative involving six specialized institutions, including JTBC and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Fair Labs will not only lead all key processes—from collecting global web and platform data to refining, standardizing, and managing integrated datasets—but will also serve as the overall project manager (PM).
Going forward, the Korea Exchange plans to expand its partnership with Fair Labs beyond internal technical support to actively leverage their collaboration for external revenue-generating businesses.
The Korea Exchange stated, "Collaboration with Fair Labs will further enhance the accuracy and reliability of listing disclosures and market operations," adding, "We look forward to Fair Labs growing into a specialized company that delivers AI-driven results across various industries beyond finance."
