Shin Jeonghoon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea representing Naju and Hwasun, announced that he has secured a total of 3.8 billion won in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to address key local issues and enhance resident safety in the Naju and Hwasun areas.
This round of special grants is mainly allocated to projects that residents can feel directly, including disaster and safety response, improvements to roads and living infrastructure, and the expansion of tourism facilities. These projects are expected to help improve local living conditions and revitalize the regional economy.
For Naju, a total of 1.9 billion won has been allocated to the following projects: 500 million won for the Naju Stream Ecological Restoration Project; 300 million won for the repaving of the road from Innovation Road to Lake Road in Bitgaram-dong; 400 million won for establishing an integrated disaster early warning platform; 300 million won for the repair and reinforcement of Yajukgyo Bridge; and 400 million won for the maintenance of the Bitgaram-dong bicycle path.
In particular, the Naju Stream Ecological Restoration Project is aimed at securing flood prevention and hydrological stability, while creating an eco-friendly stream where nature and people can coexist. The project had faced delays due to difficulties in securing a budget, but the newly obtained special grant is expected to accelerate its progress.
Through this, the restoration of the aquatic ecosystem, improvement of water quality in both tributaries and the main stream, and the creation of waterfront spaces for citizens are anticipated.
In addition, the integrated disaster early warning platform project is expected to establish a rapid response system in the event of heavy rainfall and various disaster situations, thereby contributing to the safety of citizens.
For Hwasun, a total of 1.9 billion won has been allocated: 1 billion won for the construction of the road connecting Hwasun Hot Springs and Baekasan Mountain; 400 million won for building tourism infrastructure around Baekasan Mountain; and 500 million won for the disaster prevention project in Seoyu-ri, Baekamyeon.
The road project connecting Hwasun Hot Springs and Baekasan Mountain is expected to improve accessibility for tourists, help establish a stay-type tourism base, and boost local tourism. The disaster prevention project in Seoyu-ri, Baekamyeon is aimed at building safety infrastructure to reduce damage to residents from heavy rainfall and natural disasters.
Shin Jeonghoon stated, "Securing these special grants is the result of efforts to address local issues directly related to residents' daily lives and to strengthen disaster response capabilities."
