"Exploring Future Mobility Safety Directions" Korean Society of Automotive Mobility and Safety Successfully Concludes Spring Conference

20th Anniversary of the Society
"Discussing Future Technologies and Policy Directions"

The Korean Society of Automotive Mobility and Safety announced that it held its Spring Academic Conference in Jeju for three days starting from May 7, 2026.


This event was organized to contribute to academic and technological advancements in automotive and mobility safety, enhance industrial competitiveness, and promote a culture of safety. More than 500 participants from government, academia, and industry attended. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Society's founding, and the Society explained that the event served as an opportunity to reflect on past achievements and to jointly explore the direction of safety in the era of future mobility.


Over the course of three days, more than 150 papers were presented. In-depth research presentations and discussions were conducted across a broad range of automotive safety topics, including autonomous driving and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) safety technologies, crash safety and occupant protection, electrification and eco-friendly vehicle parts safety, traffic accident analysis, legal systems, and safety medicine. Special sessions addressed topics such as software-defined vehicle (SDV) operational safety evaluation technology, responses to manufacturing defects, forensic analysis of traffic accidents, and the reuse of batteries.

Other major issues discussed included research on the advancement of advanced future vehicle inspection, strategies for improving construction machinery safety, hydrogen electric vehicle storage safety and energy recovery measures, safety in motorcycle traffic accidents involving autonomous driving functions, and SOTIF (Safety Of The Intended Functionality) for autonomous driving systems. Junhyeong Park, Director of the Mobility and Automotive Division at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, delivered a special lecture on the future policy direction for mobility and automobiles. Kim Joonghee, President of the Korea Academy of Automotive Engineering, and Yoon Younghan, Advisor to the Korean Society of Automotive Mobility and Safety, gave a special lecture titled "Dialogue with Elders."


Ha Sungyong, President of the Korean Society of Automotive Mobility and Safety, stated, "This was a meaningful event where experts from academia, industry, and research gathered in one place to jointly discuss the future of technology and policy. In commemoration of our 20th anniversary, we will continue to expand our role as a professional academic society for automotive safety, contributing to public safety and industrial development."



Founded in 2006, the Society focuses on academic research, international cooperation, and policy advisory in the field of automotive safety. The Autumn Academic Conference will be held for three days starting November 19, 2026, at the Kimdaejung Convention Center in Gwangju.
