On May 12, Choo Mi-ae, the Democratic Party candidate for Gyeonggi Province Governor, Lee Kwang-jae, the National Assembly candidate, and Kang Byung-deok, the Hanam Mayor candidate, held an on-site press briefing at the Hanam Union Tower Observatory, where they jointly announced their vision for developing the H2 site in Changwoo-dong as a specialized medical complex.

Notably, the governor, National Assembly, and mayoral candidates came together in one place to publicly outline a division of roles and a framework for cooperation to advance the project, emphasizing the credibility and feasibility of their pledges.
Currently, Hanam—home to a population of 330,000—lacks a general hospital and faces shortages in essential medical services such as emergency care, pediatrics, obstetrics, and cardio-cerebrovascular treatment. To address these issues, the three candidates plan to establish a specialized medical complex on the H2 site, where previous attempts at development have repeatedly failed, and to build a medical safety net that citizens can tangibly experience.
However, the H2 site, located at 108 Changwoo-dong and spanning approximately 162,000 square meters, has long been considered a key candidate for expanding medical infrastructure, but several development projects have been canceled in succession. As a result, they explained that support from both the Gyeonggi Provincial Government and the National Assembly is essential to ensure the project proceeds as planned.
Choo Mi-ae stated, "As a gubernatorial candidate from Hanam, I have high expectations for Hanam’s growth as a specialized medical city," adding, "If elected as Gyeonggi Province Governor, I will actively cooperate in developing the specialized medical complex."
Lee Kwang-jae commented, "The specialized medical complex is not merely a development project, but a core infrastructure directly linked to citizens’ right to life," pledging, "I will take responsibility for securing national funding and fulfilling other roles that can be carried out in the National Assembly."
Kang Byung-deok emphasized, "Medical City Hanam is the path toward a self-sustaining city where healthcare, education, and advanced industries grow together," adding, "As one team, we will streamline administrative procedures and establish a medical system that citizens can truly feel."
The three candidates also announced their intention to cooperate not only on the H2 pledge but also on other initiatives to support Hanam’s growth.
