Previously, immediately after returning to office on April 20, Governor Kim actively visited the provincial assembly, meeting consecutively with the speaker and party leaders to request the swift passage of the supplementary budget bill. He visited the assembly again on April 30 to renew his request for prompt handling of the bill.

Meanwhile, on April 17, Gyeonggi Province submitted this year’s first supplementary budget bill to the provincial assembly, amounting to a total of 41.6814 trillion won.

This is an increase of 1.6237 trillion won compared to this year’s main budget of 40.0577 trillion won. The supplementary budget was drawn up to support residents whose lives have been impacted by the prolonged Middle East conflict and to help revitalize the local economy.

Gyeonggi Province plans to implement a range of measures, including livelihood support such as high oil price damage relief payments, guaranteeing residents’ mobility rights through expanded metropolitan transfer fare discounts and The Gyeonggi Pass reimbursement, support for farmers and fishers coping with rising fuel costs, and targeted assistance for vulnerable groups falling through the cracks.
