Nami Island Skyline Zip Wire Surpasses 1 Million Cumulative Riders

The Nami Island Skyline Zip Wire has surpassed a cumulative total of 1 million users.

According to Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, the Nami Island Skyline Zip Wire reached a total of 1 million cumulative visitors as of the 11th since its opening in November 2010, the organization announced on the 12th.

Touted as the largest of its kind in Asia, the Skyline Zip Wire is operated by Janaline Co., Ltd., which was jointly established by Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, Gapyeong County, and Nami Island Inc. to promote eco-friendly tourism facilities.

In particular, the unique experience of soaring across the Bukhan River between Nami Island and Jaraseom has consistently attracted both domestic and international tourists since its opening. It has become one of Gyeonggi Province’s leading experiential tourism offerings and is regarded as a prime example of public-private partnership in tourism projects.

The zip wire, which departs from a tower about 80 meters high near the Nami Island parking lot, is popular for offering a thrilling experience by descending across the Bukhan River instead of taking a boat.

Despite various crises such as MERS and COVID-19, the operator has maintained profitable management and has continued operations without a single safety incident since its opening. The 1 millionth rider was awarded a local gift certificate worth 1 million won.

Lee Sunhyo, Executive Director of Janaline, stated, “This achievement was made possible through the combined efforts of the public and private sectors. We will continue to provide safe and sustainable eco-friendly leisure tourism services to offer more people a special experience.”
