Democratic Party leader Jeong Cheongrae, Secretary General Cho Seungrae, Seoul mayoral candidate Jeong Wono, and former party leader Song Younggil sent congratulatory video messages. From the local community, former Jung-gu District Mayor Park Hyungsang, former Jung-gu Council chairs Cho Younghoon and Lee Kyungil, the joint election campaign leadership team, district council presidents from each neighborhood, and former and current city and district council members were present.
In his greeting, candidate Lee stated, "Four years from now, people will talk not just of Mapo, Yongsan, and Seongdong, but of 'Jung-Ma-Yong-Seong,'" outlining his vision for Jung-gu to be added to Mapo, Yongsan, and Seongdong. He continued, "The moment Donghyun Lee becomes district mayor, Jung-gu will once again stand tall as the center of Seoul and the Republic of Korea," and stressed, "The district mayor who gets things done is Donghyun Lee, and the problem-solver for Jung-gu’s golden time is Donghyun Lee."
Candidate Lee also highlighted his alliance with the Lee Jaemyung administration, Seoul mayoral candidate Jeong Wono, and Assemblyman Park Sungjoon. He said, "Mayoral candidate Jeong Wono and I have been proven partners since our days as Seoul city council members," adding, "I will work with the Lee Jaemyung administration and Assemblyman Park Sungjoon to address local issues." He further stated, "With strong ruling party cooperation connecting the central government, Seoul City, the National Assembly, and Jung-gu District Office, I will deliver changes in Jung-gu that residents can truly feel."
On this day, candidate Lee also announced his five key pledges: becoming a "district mayor who brings in revenue" through the introduction of a foreign tourist tax, accelerating redevelopment projects based on deregulation and residents' opinions, providing "comprehensive care for all Jung-gu residents" from children to young adults and seniors, establishing a complete disaster safety system for Jung-gu, and being an "accessible mayor" whom residents can meet on the streets.
Lee emphasized, "The funds secured through the tourist tax will be directly returned to Jung-gu residents in the form of jobs, education, and welfare, and the history of Korea’s tourist tax will begin in Jung-gu," adding, "I will be a mayor for everyone, without dividing people into sides."
Lee has served as a member of the 10th Seoul Metropolitan Council, where he sponsored the "Ordinance for Supporting Social Ventures" and the "Ordinance for Supporting Essential In-Person Workers," earning the top prize in the metropolitan council pledge fulfillment category at the Manifesto Awards for Local Lawmakers. He later worked as Assemblyman Park Sungjoon's aide for four years and served as co-chair of the joint election campaign for Junggu-Seongdong-gu (Eul) during the 21st presidential election.
