On May 10, 33 retired public officials—including former Director of Finance and Economy Park Sejong, former Director of Welfare Kim Sunbae, former Jungwon District Office Chief Choi Hongseok, and former Bundang District Office Chief Kim Myungsoo—issued a statement after the opening ceremony of Shin Sangjin’s campaign office. They said, "We strongly support the re-election of candidate Shin Sangjin, who has elevated Seongnam’s standing through clean and dedicated governance over the past four years."

They cited the following as Shin’s strengths: a true Seongnam native, clean and transparent administration, strong drive and execution, and leadership that respects public officials.

The retired officials remarked, "Since first arriving in Seongnam in 1984 to champion democratization and workers’ rights, Shin Sangjin has devoted the past 43 years solely to Seongnam. He is not a politician who uses Seongnam as a stepping stone for greater power or returns after leaving; rather, he is a sincere leader committed to beginning and ending his service in Seongnam."

They also noted, "Throughout our long careers in public service, we have seen many heads of organizations, but leaders as principled and clean as Shin Sangjin are rare. His administration is not focused on the interests of specific groups or close associates but looks only to the citizens, and his attitude of cherishing every single won of taxpayers’ money is especially remarkable."

The group also highly praised Shin Sangjin’s major accomplishments over the past four years.

Despite central government regulations, they cited as key achievements the securing of leading redevelopment and reconstruction projects and the phased easing of building height restrictions—a long-standing aspiration for Seongnam. They also mentioned the successful preliminary feasibility study for the extension of Subway Line 8 to Pangyo, the inclusion of the Wirye-Samdong Line in the feasibility study, the attraction of POSCO Holdings to Seongnam Wirye, the recruitment of the KAIST AI Research Center, and the development of Ori Station’s 4th Technovalley. They called these results "preparations for Seongnam’s prosperity over the next 100 years."

In conclusion, the retired public officials strongly appealed, "Shin Sangjin is the only proven leader who can ensure the uninterrupted completion of Seongnam’s ongoing development. We urge you to entrust Seongnam City to candidate Shin Sangjin once again."
