Sungjae Im Ties for 5th... "Ouch, Tee Shot Error on the 14th Hole"

Truist Championship Final Round: 1-Under-Par

Double Bogey on 14th, Second Top-5 Finish of the Season

Reitan Claims Victory, Fowler Takes Second, McIlroy Finishes 19th

Sungjae Im finished in the top 5.

On May 10 (local time), at the Quail Hollow Club (par 71) in Charlotte, North Carolina, Sungjae Im recorded five birdies, two bogeys, and one double bogey during the fourth round of the PGA Tour Signature Event, the Truist Championship (total prize money: 2 million dollars). Im shot a one-under-par 70 and finished tied for 5th place (11-under-par 273) alongside Tommy Fleetwood (England) and J.J. Spaun (United States).

This marks Im's second top-5 finish since tying for fourth at the Valspar Championship in March. Having won twice on the PGA Tour, Im joined this season late after injuring his right wrist, returning to the tour only in March.

Im started the final round tied for fourth, four shots off the lead, and managed to lower his score by three strokes with four birdies and one bogey over the first 13 holes. He was in solo second, just one shot behind, until the 14th hole (par 4), where his tee shot hooked left into the water. After incurring a one-stroke penalty, he reached the green in three but three-putted, resulting in a double bogey. Im posted a fairway hit rate of 64.29%, a greens-in-regulation rate of 61.11%, and averaged 1.55 putts per hole, delivering a steady performance overall. However, the mistake on the 14th hole was a disappointment.

Kristoffer Reitan (Norway) shot a two-under-par 69 to win the tournament by two strokes (15-under-par 269) and claimed his first career victory along with the winner's prize of 3.6 million dollars (approximately 5.3 billion won). Rickie Fowler (United States) surged with a six-under-par 65 to finish tied for second (13-under-par 271) for the first time in a while. Overnight leader Alex Fitzpatrick (England) dropped two strokes and finished fourth (12-under-par 272).

Last week's Cadillac Championship winner Cameron Young (United States) finished tied for 10th (9-under-par 275), Min Woo Lee (Australia) tied for 14th (7-under-par 277), and Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) tied for 19th (5-under-par 279). Si Woo Kim had two birdies but five bogeys, ending up tied for 65th (four-over-par 288).
