This spring, the entire city of Yongin Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Sangil) has been filled with the warmth of sharing. According to the city on April 5, voluntary community service by residents and organizations is ongoing across the region, ranging from environmental cleanup of the Mabukcheon Stream to donations of food for the underprivileged.

First, the 'Green Sharing' initiative, which focuses on caring for the local environment, stands out.


On April 2, the Mabukdong Residents' Autonomy Committee planted iris pseudacorus, an aquatic plant used for water purification, in the Mabukcheon Stream as part of the effort to create a "clear and clean stream." Following the planting of 5,000 seedlings last year, the plan is to plant 6,000 seedlings this year.


This activity was carried out after being selected for the "2026 Gyeonggi-do Volunteer Center Support Project."


Vice Chairperson Lee Jonghyun stated, "This activity is especially meaningful because various organizations and residents joined forces and participated together," adding, "Such cooperation and participation will serve as the driving force to make the Mabukcheon Stream even cleaner and healthier."

On April 1, the Bojeong-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee (Chairman Kim Yongbin) and the Council of Village Chiefs (President Shin Cheolok) conducted a spring cleaning event.


They collected household waste from the Bojeong-dong cafe street and Tancheon Stream and threw 500 EM (Effective Microorganisms) mud balls into the Tancheon Stream to help with environmental cleanup and water quality improvement.


Chairman Kim Yongbin said, "We collected old trash left over from the winter as we welcome spring. I hope the EM mud balls thrown into the Tancheon Stream will help create a pleasant urban environment."


President Shin Cheolok added, "We will continue to promote environmental cleanup activities in the region going forward."

On April 1, Gapado Green Barley Rice (CEO Yoon Bora) and Emart Yongin Store (CEO Kim Jongcheol) signed a sponsorship agreement with Giheung-dong, donating food items worth 5 million won and fruits worth 1 million won, respectively.


CEO Yoon Bora commented, "Growing alongside the community and helping neighbors in need is the philosophy of our store," adding, "We will continue to engage in sharing activities in the future."


CEO Kim Jongcheol stated, "We will contribute to creating a warm community together with local residents," pledging to further expand social contribution activities."

On April 1, Yeongdeok 2-dong in Giheung District held a "Spring Cleaning and Flower Planting" event.


Members from six organizations—including the Council of Village Chiefs, Sports Association, Community Welfare Council, Senior Citizens' Association, Women's Association, and Youth Guidance Committee—participated in the cleaning activities, aiming to improve the local environment and foster community unity.


Focusing on areas with frequent environmental complaints, members carried out cleaning operations and engaged in flower planting by leveling the ground and sowing wildflower seeds on a 200-pyeong (approximately 661 square meters) site above Yeongdeok 2 Tunnel.

On March 31, Yonsei W Dental Clinic in Jukjeon-dong, Suji District (Director Shin Cheolwoo) donated twenty 4kg bags of rice to the Jukjeon 3-dong Administrative Welfare Center to support neighbors in need.


This donation was made in celebration of the clinic's 20th anniversary, with the aim of giving back the love received from local residents.

On March 31, Yongin Seongsan Rotary Club (President Lee Sunghui) donated supplies worth 4.5 million won to support low-income single-parent families.


The supplies will be provided to five low-income single-parent families.


President Lee Sunghui stated, "We made this donation to help ease the burden of single-parent families, especially female heads of household, who are facing difficult circumstances," and pledged to continue engaging in sharing activities in the future.

On March 31, the Dongcheon-dong Community Welfare Council (Chairman Lee Daesik) carried out the "Happy Side Dish Sharing" initiative for isolated households in welfare blind spots.


Until November this year, council members plan to personally visit 30 households facing difficulties due to illness or disability each month to deliver side dishes and check on their well-being.


Chairman Lee Daesik said, "This is more than just providing side dishes; it is also about looking after our neighbors' health and well-being, which makes it even more significant," adding, "We will continue our sharing activities to make the community even warmer."

On March 30, the Dongbaek 1-dong Saemaeul Women's Association (President Oh Youngmi) visited 10 households from vulnerable groups, including persons with severe disabilities, and delivered "Spring Happy Packages" containing daily necessities and food items.


Members prepared the packages using proceeds from various sharing activities conducted last year, such as running a one-day tea shop, holding bazaars, and collecting milk cartons.


Each package included daily necessities and food items such as tissue, detergent, white rice, and dried seaweed, worth approximately 100,000 won in total.


President Oh Youngmi stated, "Although it is a small gesture, we prepared these packages in the hope that neighbors facing hardship can welcome a warm spring," pledging to continue sharing activities in the future.


On March 30, Tteudon Handmade Pork Cutlet (Manager Ahn Sanghoon) donated thirty 10,000-won meal vouchers (worth a total of 300,000 won) to Yeongdeok 1-dong for disadvantaged youth.


The vouchers will be distributed to disadvantaged youth in the local community.



Manager Ahn Sanghoon said, "I prepared these with the hope that the youth can feel a bit of happiness through a warm meal," adding, "I want to continue sharing activities that benefit the local community."
