In particular, the company has enhanced both safety and the city's aesthetics by collaborating with a local artist to create a sophisticated design along the busy roadside, earning praise for elevating the urban environment.

In June, Gwangju Shinsegae commissioned artist Jung Seungwon, who is from the region, to create a new design for the temporary fence near the Youth Square Cultural Center construction site. Based on Gwangju Shinsegae’s social contribution slogan, "SHINSEGAE LOVES GWANGJU," the design was developed under the theme "Scenery of Gwangju," featuring various landmarks and citizens of Gwangju.

After the temporary fence was installed in July, the company presented images of various iconic tourist destinations in Gwangju in a layout reminiscent of an open travel guidebook. This initiative has been well received for naturally promoting Gwangju’s attractions to both citizens visiting the terminal and customers visiting the department store, while also enhancing the city’s appearance.

The fence, unlike typical construction site barriers, features a unique and colorful design that not only provides visual enjoyment but also offers tourist information, garnering positive feedback.

The temporary fence showcases illustrations and descriptions of 17 local landmarks, including Gwangju Shinsegae, the former Jeonnam Provincial Government Main Building, Gwangju Biennale, Jeonil Building 245, National Gwangju Museum, Gwangju Champions Field, Mudeungsan Mountain, Jeungsimsa Temple, Palgakjeong Pavilion, Yangnim-dong Cultural Village, Gwangju Station, Gwangju Songjeong Station, Gwangju Airport, Asia Culture Center, and Gwangju Culture and Art Center.

Meanwhile, Jung Seungwon, the artist who participated in the design, has been showcasing printmaking, design, and other visual arts in his hometown of Gwangju since returning from studying in Germany.

CEO Lee Donghoon stated, "We planned this project to breathe new life into the cityscape, which can become desolate during construction, by featuring images of Gwangju’s representative landmarks," adding, "We hope that passing citizens will feel a sense of vitality and anticipation."
