This closure is a measure for emergency restoration of electrical facilities and other infrastructure that were damaged by a fire following a single-vehicle intercity bus accident in the Maseong Tunnel at 9:20 p.m. on September 16.

During the closure of lanes 1 and 2, lanes 3 to 5 will remain open. In case of congestion, drivers can use the Maseong Interchange connector, or exit at Suwon Singal Interchange on the Gyeongbu Expressway via the Singal Junction, then enter Seoyongin Interchange via National Route 42, use the Second Capital Region Ring Expressway, and re-enter the Yeongdong Expressway at the Seoyongin Junction.

To minimize confusion among drivers, Korea Expressway Corporation plans to provide information on detour routes and traffic conditions through traffic broadcasting and variable message signs (VMS). Users can also check real-time information on the Roadplus website or through the expressway traffic information app.

A representative from Korea Expressway Corporation stated, "Since this traffic control is for emergency restoration following the bus fire accident, we kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation despite any inconvenience."
