The search for a man in his 70s who went missing after being swept away by rapidly rising waters in Dongcheon, Suncheon, Jeonnam, has continued for a third day as of July 21, 2025.
Jeonnam 119 Special Response Team is conducting a search operation for a missing person in Suncheon Dongcheon. Provided by Yeosu City, Yonhap News Agency.
View original imageAccording to Suncheon City and other authorities, rescue teams resumed their search near the accident site at 7 a.m. on July 21, 2025. A total of 188 people?including police, firefighters, city officials, and volunteers?are focusing their efforts on a roughly 6-kilometer stretch from the accident site to Suncheonman, searching the river and surrounding areas.
The search operation has mobilized 28 pieces of equipment, including drones, search dogs, and private boats. Volunteer firefighters and special response team members are also participating in the search.
The missing man was last seen at around 2:30 p.m. on July 19, 2025, being swept away by strong currents in a stream near Ocheon Green Square at Suncheonman National Garden.
